Bible Journaling and An Excellent Audio Experience

I had not heard of Bible journaling until recently, but it is pretty neat. The journaling margins are large so that you can write, paint, draw, and interact creatively with what you’re reading. Type “Bible journaling” into a search engine and click on images to see lots of neat ideas. There is also a free e-course coming in January on a blog that I enjoy (I am signed up and ready with my supplies). Here’s the link for that.

Another unique way to experience the Bible is through audio versions. The Word of Promise is a new CD audio set of the New Testament that I highly recommend.

Publisher’s Description: The multi-voiced, scripted dramatization of the New King James Version (NKJV) features a star-studded cast of actors, an original music score, and incredible feature film quality sound effects. This world-class production creates a dramatic audio theater experience that makes you feel like you’re really there with Jesus and His disciples.

Cast Includes:

  • Jim Caviezel (The Passion of The Christ, Déjà vu) – Jesus
  • Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss (Mr. Holland’s Opus, The Goodbye Girl) – Quotes from Moses
  • Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, What Women Want) – Mary Magdalene
  • Golden Globe winner Stacy Keach (Prison Break, Hemingway) – Paul
  • Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Louis Gossett, Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman, Roots) – John
  • Kimberly Williams-Paisley (According to Jim, Father of the Bride) – Mary, Mother of Jesus
  • And many others

240_360_book-1772-cover1I thought the CD series sounded fantastic. I really enjoyed the music score and sound effects; those elements added a lot of atmosphere to the reading. I was also intrigued by a few unexpected voices, such as Luke Perry (from Beverly Hills, 90210) and John Schneider (from The Dukes of Hazzard). I think this audio version is wonderful to listen to in the car. If you are looking for an introduction to the New Testament or want to experience the New Testament in a new way, this set is a good choice. Plus, it only costs about $25, so it could make a good Christmas present for someone. Book Look Bloggers sent me The Word of Promise to listen to in return for my honest review.

Hope your Christmas season is off to a fantastic start.
